April 25 - ITC-XIII at Cal Poly Pomona

GENERAL

Q: What is the date for ITC 2009?
A: Saturday, April 25, 2009

Q: Where is the competition going to be held this year?
A: All of the day's events will be held at Cal Poly Pomona. Most events will be held in the Bronco Student Center while the IT Security & Forensics case will be held in Building 98C.

Q: If I don't want to compete, can I still attend the competition?
A: Yes. Audience members (friends, parents, significant others, etc.) are required to pay an entrance fee because of costs associated with meals and other accomodations. Tickets will be available at the door and online. Attendees can buy pre-sale audience tickets for $20 per person online by submitting their name and e-mail address by 5:00pm, April 24, 2008. An audience ticket allows the holder to receive a catered breakfast and lunch, access to the career fair, as well as the chance to watch the day's events. On May 3, the day of the competition, audience tickets will be $25 for students with valid student IDs and $30 for those without student IDs.

COMPETITORS

Q: What do I have to do to become a competitor?
A: You must submit an entry form during either early or regular registration, receive a confirmation e-mail, and postmark the required materials by April 3, 2009. For details, please see the competitor guidelines.

Q: Can we change our team name after we have submitted our entry form?
A: Yes. The final official team name is the name on the competitor contract and form document that must be postmarked by April 26th. Please indicate on this form what your previous team name was.

Q: How many members must be in a team?
A: Teams must be comprised of three (3) to five (5) members.

Q: Can we add team members after we have submitted our entry form?
A: Yes. The team is officially comprised of the three to five members specified on the competitor contract, form, and related documents that must be postmarked by April 3rd.

Q: After submitting our registration packet, can we substitute members?
A: Yes. Substitutes for registered team members are allowed. Substitutions cannot be made after the team checks in on the day of the competition. Each substitute must submit all required proof of eligibility at the time of substitution. The original team member does not need to be present for the substitution to take place. The ITC 2009 planning committee must approve the substitution.

Q: We go to Cal Poly Pomona. Do we still have to mail our registration packet?
A: No. Drop your registration packet off in the MISSA/ITC mailbox at the OSL office at Building 26 Room 124 or at one of our committee meetings. Please email itc@calpolymissa.org for meeting times.

Q: I graduate right after Winter Quarter 2009. Am I still qualified to compete?
A: Yes. You are still required to submit a photocopy of your student ID as well as a photocopy of your Winter Quarter 2009 schedule. You will not be required to submit one for Spring Quarter 2009.

Q: Does an entry form submittal guarantee a spot as a competitor?
A: No. Submitting an entry form is the first step to becoming a competitor and is instrumental in determining under which registration category a team falls. However, due to the popularity of certain cases and the physical limitations of our facilities, a limit to how many teams can register for an event may be placed. If the ITC Committee sees the need for such a limit, spots will be given based upon the order in which payment was received.

Q: Who were past winners?
A: We currently do not have this information. However, past competing schools include the following: Cal Poly Pomona, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Cal Tech, Harvey Mudd, Loyola Marymount University, DeVry Institute, UCLA, Woodbury, CSU Northridge, Mt. Sierra College, Cal State Fullerton, USC, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Fresno, ITT Tech - West Covina.

Q: Can I see past winning cases?
A: No. Revealing past winning cases would give certain teams an advantage over others. However, you can see descriptions of past cases on the events page.
