  1. What does SWIFT stand for?

    SWIFT stands for Students With an Interest in the Future of Telecommunications.

  2. What is SWIFT?

    SWIFT is a student branch chapter of the IEEE Communications Society, one of three CIS clubs on campus. We focus on the area of Telecommunications and Networking. SWIFT is here to help students gain an understanding of current and future technologies as well as practical workshops on various topics related to CIS.

  3. How much is membership?

    Membership fee is only $35 for new members and $30 for returning members. This also includes membership for IEEE, which SWIFT helps pay for.

  4. When do you guys meet?

    Meetings are held every week (except when campus is closed) on Tuesday in building 98P in room 2-007.

  5. What do you guys do? Why should I join?

    We hold practical workshops that are not covered in classrooms for a competitive advantage. We have industry speakers on their company and related technologies, as well as provide networking/job opportunities. host telecomm symposiums, introduce new technologies.

  6. How can I get involved?

    Attend our events or even join our Executive Board. Elections begin in Spring quarter for next academic year.

  7. Does this club only cover Telcom material?

    No. We cover all sort of topics. This includes: Wire Crimping, Linux, Hacking, Apache Servers, Perl, PHP, .NET environment, etc. If you have any suggestions on other things you would like us to cover, just ask the Eboard members. The sky is the limit.
